From the general supervisor to the Senior Education Advisor, the profession has evolved in the institutions, the way to access it, and the training to achieve it as well. The 2nd year of the Master is often experienced as a year divided between two worlds, that of training and that of the field. The writing of a professional thesis attempts in a limited time to make the connection between them by giving the opportunity to ask questions about the profession. This article, based on the students’ theses of the ESPE in Paris, aims to bring to light the models of professionalism that challenge the future CPEs. We will show that this question is approached by different means, the texts being a privileged axis of entry which highlight the intermediary position of the CPE in the education system. We will present what is said by the profession about the means of investing the roles and functions of the CPE: performer, collaborator, educator, pedagogue, manager.
