Nanotechnology is a booming sector. Developed from the mid-twentieth century onward, it has been booming for the past twenty years. However, the development of nanotechnologies needs to be accompanied by a more practical approach focused on monitoring and controlling information flows, with a scale of participation ranging from data provision to decision-making. The process of economic intelligence—the collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation of data—represents a practice that is not limited to defining ideas, but that involves above all putting them into practice to ensure better production of knowledge that generates innovations.JEL codes: C80, O30, O31, O32, O33
