En suivant l’exemple récurrent de frère Martin, moine cistercien se levant pour prier vigiles, l’essai explore les diverses strates de l’intention : de la volonté d’une fin particulière à l’articulation de l’intériorité et de l’action, en passant par l’attribution de responsabilité, les influences collectives, les habitus, et enfin la visée d’une fin ultime. L’intentionnalité y est décrite non seulement comme un acte de volonté, mais comme un processus dynamique structurant l’identité narrative de la personne. En croisant les apports de la phénoménologie, de la philosophie analytique et de la théologie, l’auteur met en lumière la dimension théologale de l’intention et l’originalité du jugement en théologie morale, compris comme reconnaissance et reconfiguration de la personne par le Christ; This essay proposes a mapping of intentionality in moral theology, employing a narrative and topographical approach. Using the recurring example of Brother Martin, a Cistercian monk rising to pray vigils, the essay explores the various layers of intention: from the desire for a particular end to the articulation of interiority and action, through the attribution of responsibility, collective influences, habitus, and finally the pursuit of an ultimate end. Intentionality is described not only as an act of will, but as a dynamic process that structures a person’s narrative identity. By combining insights from phenomenology, analytical philosophy and theology, the author sheds light on the theological dimension of intention and the originality of judgement in moral theology, which are understood as the recognition and reconfiguration of the person by Christ
