YouTube as a political medium: Differences in content between traditional political interviews and online broadcasts by three representatives of La France Insoumise

YouTube has become a key element in the strategy of one particular French political party, La France Insoumise (Unbowed France). With a methodology combining a qualitative and a quantitative approach – using the systematic coding of a corpus of online videos and traditional interviews –, the article shows that online political speeches can tackle a broader range of key political topics, while allowing for a more personal approach to the viewer.
