Capitalism has begun to exploit the ego-gregarious mechanisms at work in consumption by promising even more than the satisfaction of passing whims; now it offers the full realization of all fantasies. Eroticism, once prodigal and gratuitous, has been transformed into a highly profitable activity, pornography, by setting up addictive mechanisms.
