Comparative developments in tobacco regulation policies in Europe and the United States - 2018.

The example of the US tobacco control policy reflects the ability of public decision-makers to transform individual behaviors. The principles and instruments of this effective policy of reducing tobacco consumption in the general population have largely inspired public action in the European Union (EU), which is based on common levers, including price control strategies and advertising of tobacco products. This paper reviews the dynamics of the tobacco control policies developed in the United States and Europe and sketches some lines of analysis as to the differentiation and success factors of these policies.
