N1 - 53 N2 - Ukrainian historiography from the time of the USSR till post-Soviet Ukraine is analyzed through the prism of changes in institutions and methodology. Elements in the historiography of the Ukrainian Republic’s relationship with Russia during the Soviet era take issue with the usual view that the Ukrainian science of history had fallen victim to totalitarianism. In the context of changes at the turn of the 1990s, the academic organization inherited from the Soviet period was maintained while becoming the vector of a new ideological content.
