Maliba, le grand Mali de la tradition orale revisité par le rappeur Van Baxy

<br/><br/> Depuis les années 2010, le Mali traverse une crise multidimensionnelle. Pour certains Maliens, les aînés ont tourné le dos aux leçons et aux modèles de l’histoire vernaculaire. Dans ces conditions, comment se les réapproprier afin de redresser l’État et la nation ? Ce texte analyse l’histoire vernaculaire valorisée à Bamako à travers le regard du rappeur Van Baxy. En 2016, ce dernier reprit la célèbre chanson du griot Bazoumana Sissoko, « Maliba » (l’« Empire du Mali » de la tradition orale), initialement diffusée sur Radio Soudan en 1959. Pour Bazoumana et Van, le retour du Maliba passe par un réinvestissement effectif des Maliens de leur histoire et de leurs valeurs culturelles réinventées.  Since 2010, Mali has been going through a serious multidimensional crisis. For some Malians, their elders have turned their backs on the lessons and models of vernacular history. Under these circumstances, how can these lessons and models be reclaimed to put the state and the nation back on its feet? This text analyzes the vernacular history valued in Bamako through the lens of rapper Van Baxy. In 2016, he covered the famous song by griot Bazoumana Sissoko, “Maliba” (the “Empire of Mali” of oral tradition), which was originally broadcast on Radio Soudan in 1959. For Bazoumana and Van the return of Maliba depends on Malians effectively reinvesting in their history and reinvented cultural values.
