new circumstances and new cultures have always called for a new theology. At the start of the 21st century, given the effects of a scientific and technological revolution, the feminist and the environmental revolutions, the complexity of global relations and an unprecedented pluralism, Christian theology must be public in nature, engage in networks and confront pluralism, seeking ever more deeply its evangelical essence, in an even more critical and analytical fashion with respect to the history of Christianity. Above all, it must try to respond to the signs of the times with the resources of the faith and of Christian revelation. in this age of the World Social Forum, the slogan of which is “a different world is possible”, the creation of a parallel World Forum for Theology and Liberation can be a useful test of the relevance of theology to our times, and can identify creative directions for the work that needs to be done in the near future.
