N1 - 26 N2 - Family links are rooted in intergenerational transmission that helps build a family’s group identity. Current family issues could thus become clearer by examining inter- or trans-generational family histories. However, family links are often marred by secrets, which family members adjust to differently. Many families attempt to cover up kinship secrets, to suppress shameful events. Traditional research has focused on the negative aspects of transmission and secrets, while clinical observation attests to their multiple effects on families. Therefore, while secret incidents may generate pathological effects, they may also have protective implications for family members. This paper will show that if certain disturbed transmissions within a family generate disorders and psychological suffering, in attesting to the pathology of the links, other types of transmission and secrets have more positive consequences and sometimes, with certain individuals, contribute to stimulating creativity UR - https://shs.cairn.info/journal-la-revue-internationale-de-l-education-familiale-2007-2-page-27?lang=en ER -
