The territorial commitment of female entrepreneurs in deprived neighborhoods, a combination of determination and pragmatism - 2021.

59

Based on two qualitative case studies in intercommunal areas, this paper deals with the specific territorial effects of women entrepreneurs living in deprived areas. It reveals the different degrees of their participation in the social and solidarity economy and their wish to help people through their economic activity. These activities strengthen local social development more than local economic development. But women entrepreneurs’ local commitment is not always a choice: it depends mainly on their social and economic constraints.
