N2  - Parmi les directions de recherche sur le rôle des médias dans la communication politique, la problématique de la fonction d’agenda a connu des développements importants au plan empirique. Ses postulats, fondés sur l’idée que les médias sélectionnent, orientent et hiérarchisent l’information politique des citoyens, restent essentiellement dans une perspective fonctionnaliste. L’élargissement de cette problématique se situe dans l’étude des processus cognitifs d’apprentissage par les citoyens des phénomènes politiques; Agenda Setting : Transformations of a ParadigmAmong the many research orientations concerning the role of the media in political communication, « agenda-setting » studies are particularly important by the empirical developments they have led to. Mostly functionalist in outlook they stem from the premise that the media proceed to a selection, orientation and hierarchization of the political information available to the citizenry. Their recent evolution leads to a cognitive focus on the citizens’ learning processes in regard to political phenomena
