<br/><br/> Cette contribution propose une interprétation du processus créatif chez le Greco fondé sur des notions puisées à l’humanisme vénitien. C’est une tentative d’exposer à quel point nos idées préconçues sur le savoir au xvie siècle, et une vision de l’histoire de l’art comprise en termes de succession de différents styles orientés vers le naturalisme, peuvent restreindre l’analyse de l’œuvre de ce peintre. Conjointement à ses peintures, on examinera quelques-unes de ses notes marginales en essayant de comprendre de quelle manière l’art du livre manuscrit enluminé a pu influencer sa pratique et ses idées artistiques.  This is a proposal for interpreting El Greco’s creative process based on Venetian notions of humanism. It is an attempt that aims at demonstrating to what extend preconceptions about a 16th century sense of knowledge and art history in terms of a succession of periods of different styles oriented towards naturalism, can restrain analysis of this painter’s work. We will jointly examine some of his marginal comments on his books along with his paintings, seeking to understand in what way the technology of manuscript illuminated books of his time affected his art and his thought.
