<br/><br/> Cet article se propose de suivre au plus près les gestes et les pensées du publiciste et parlementaire socialiste Gustave Rouanet (1855-1927) dans ce « moment antisémite » qui secoue la France entre 1897 et 1899. En contrepoint de son ami Jean Jaurès, il fait apparaître un acteur politique malmené par le développement de la deuxième Affaire Dreyfus, et par la campagne législative de 1898 qui lui fait office de champ public d’affrontements. Pourtant, imprégné d’un héritage révolutionnaire républicain profond et fort d’une expérience sensible de l’injustice militaire, le député de Clignancourt montre, à travers ces six mois périlleux, une vigilance humaniste singulière qui le met souvent en avant-garde ou en porte-à-faux dans le monde socialiste de la fin du XIXe siècle. Elle lui permet d’éclairer définitivement son combat aux longs cours contre la « barbarie » antisémite.  This article aims to describe with high accuracy the actions and the words of Socialist deputy and publicist Gustave Rouanet (1855-1927) during the “anti-Semitic moment” that shook France between 1897 and 1899. In comparison to his friend, Jean Jaurès, Rouanet was a political actor maltreated by the development of the second “Affaire Dreyfus”, and by the legislative campaign of 1898 which became for him a hard battlefield. Yet, the deputy Rouanet remained influenced by a deep republican revolutionary legacy and a strong will to counter the military injustice. He showed therefore, through this turbulent period, a singular humanist vigilance that often placed him at the forefront of the socialist world. This period allowed him to define and to precise his long-term fight against anti-Semitic inhumanity.
