La volonté de l’administration Trump d’évacuer les termes du contentieux israélo-palestinien met cependant Amman devant un défi d’ampleur, étant donné notamment la forte composante palestinienne de la population jordanienne. La monarchie hachémite saura-t-elle éviter les écueils qui se présentent à elle ?  Jordan has always been able to cope with the contradictions that are generated by its pro-Western strategic and political choices. Nevertheless, President Donald Trump’s determination to sort out the Israeli-Palestinian conflict adds to Jordan’s challenges, bearing in mind that the majority of the Jordanian population is of Palestinian origin. The question now is whether and how the King of Jordan will be able to overcome these obstacles?
