TY - BOOK AU - Blanchard,Sophie AU - Chapuis,Amandine TI - “Where are the women?” Spatial issues around a women’s collective in the cafés of Aubervilliers PY - 2022///. N1 - 20 N2 - On the basis of a monograph about political activism in a feminist group, this article seeks to link together the geography of gender and the geography of social movements in order to show the connections between gender relations and processes of urban change. This paper documents the mobilization of a group of women in favour of gender diversity in public spaces, especially cafés. Drawing on a survey conducted through participant observation and interviews, this research documents the spatial dimension of this activist movement, showing the role of space in the repertoires of collective action. It explores the scales of activism, highlighting how it operates across multiple scales between local embeddedness and global projection. Finally, the paper analyses how this collective action connects with the dynamics of gentrification underway in the town of Aubervilliers, by exploring how the histories of the Collective’s members reveal the norms of a renewed form of urban citizenship, norms that sometimes clash with certain working-class uses of urban public space UR - https://shs.cairn.info/journal-annales-de-geographie-2022-2-page-5?lang=en&redirect-ssocas=7080 ER -
