N2  - On s’efforce d’abord de retracer l’histoire complexe des toponymes dédoublés Plancher-Bas et Plancher-les-Mines (Haute-Saône). Puis, après avoir discuté les étymologies en cours, on propose une solution nouvelle partant de l’ancien français (prélittéraire) *planchier « celui qui fabrique des planches », employé au pluriel pour désigner, antérieurement à l’époque carolingienne, des dépendants chasés de l’abbaye de Lure; History and origin of the place names Plancher-Bas and Plancher-les-Mines (Haute-Saône)The complex history of the two related place names is examined in light of their current etymology. A new solution using Old French is proposed in which planchier « a maker of planks », which as a plural in Carolingian times, denoted dependants exiled from the Abbey of Lure’s lands
