N2  - The description of the play Twa fèy, twa rasin provides material for an anthropological examination of what the actors define as suffering inherited from slavery and the ways of surpassing it that the play appears to offer. It also gives an opportunity to investigate the processes of memory reconstruction at work in dramatic art in Martinique, in which the registers of literature and body language combine. Beyond the play’s intentions and statements therefore, study of sources and the creation of characters and the situations in which they develop brings clues as to how historical and collective memories (here more particularly in gestural terms) meet and result in reinventions in this domain, or sometimes contradict each other
