Is There a Machine Behind the Machine?
- 2012.
97
Man and machine are now in a fusional relationship. It is impossible to think of man without technology, and impossible to think of the world without machines. The problem is to understand how that dependency appears in philosophical, medical and economic discourse. How is language profoundly transformed by it and how does that transformation affect us in turn ? It is not so much a question of mistrusting machines, as of asking ourselves what use they serve ? Whom do they serve ? What ideology do they follow ? Should we mechanize men, or humanize machines ? Our whole conception of the world is at issue here, one which organizes the social bond in politics.
