Isabelle Klock-Fontanille considers writing to be a “configuration” of which the medium forms a part. Writing includes characters, a syntagmatic layout, and supporting objects, but also encompasses actors and the actantial and enunciative structure of a writing practice, all configured by an inscription in an enunciatory site in a practical setting. This article considers the interface structure of a medium (its textual and practical aspects).
