This article outlines the transformation of digital press photography through an analysis of the Agence France-Presse and Paris Match Instagram pages. By using a communicational approach to the concept of the “banal,” the author conceptualizes digital press photography as an issue of complex eco-semiotics, where digital devices and media industries jointly establish a space for the circulation and crossing of photographs.
