Gender malaise: when the liberation of the feminine uncovers some errors of interpretation
- 2022.

The notion of gender is turning our contemporary world upside down, making sexual binarity a gradually obsolete model. And it seems that women are not to blame.A blatant disturbance has become particularly noticeable in the relationship between the sexes, as well as in the area of gender identity. And it all began with the liberation of the feminine, when women imposed their legitimacy on the masculine side… From then on, the bisexuality of the psychic structure, which had always been powerfully repressed in the unconscious, made a dramatic return to the light of consciousness, shaking up the social scene and its traditions, reforming conjugal life and its reflexes of domination, but also re-interrogating subjects’ private lives, who in a short space of time began to think differently about their own sexuality and sexual identity. The phenomenon deserves serious consideration. Today it is giving rise to unprecedented opposition and debate in the very field of our discipline. The need to rethink certain psychoanalytical dictates that are fixed in their theoretical prescription sometimes also runs the risk of neglecting the subject of the unconscious and its clinical reality. The time has therefore come to take stock of the issue and to grasp the clinical and theoretical ways in which psychoanalytical thought can peacefully approach this notion of gender.
