Accompanying women who drink alcohol during pregnancy, providing guidance on follow-up care

Alcohol consumption during pregnancy exposes the child to neurodevelopmental disorders. Perinatal professionals must ask pregnant women about their alcohol consumption. In the event of prenatal exposure to alcohol, a pediatric prenatal consultation should be organized to ensure couples are well-informed and to prepare with them, right from the start of the pregnancy, a specialized and coordinated neurodevelopmental follow-up program for the child. This follow-up will be organized with the parents before the child’s birth, in conjunction with the professionals already in place.
