<br/><br/> This article recounts and explains the path that leads to pursuing the occupation of family counsellor in lower and higher secondary schools. The work accomplished in this context comes in addition to a risk prevention rationale based on a scientific approach, the sharing of knowledge and protection of adolescents. Alongside this conventional side to the job, the counsellor contributing the article explores another way of thinking, a different approach that caters for the personal representations, the affects and desires of adolescents. While these two approaches would seem to be logically irreconcilable, they can be seen to work together here in a complementary fashion.
