The Announcement of Childhood - 2005.

45

The fantasy violence of adults and in particular of parents, expressed in some collective representations of the child, can be striking. However, it has always existed as we can see, for example, in the child reception rituals in traditional societies or from postcards printed during wars (particularly WWI baby-soldiers). These representations is an echo of the unconscious child, uncanny as well, that is revealed through psychoanalytic experience, which is the effect of an infantile violence within our-selves. Birth announcements also let appear those infantile fantasies. Some confusion of roles appears when the new born baby is announcing itself its birth. Thus the infant happens to be in a self-founded role. In such examples, aren’t the parents announcing their fantasy childhood?
