N2  - In pre-adolescence, children with congenital aplasia of the ear can undergo reconstructive plastic surgery in two stages (Nagata method). If aplasia is constitutive of the image of the child’s face in the mirror, his or her self can be affected, even negatively so. The present work thus underlines the value of the clinical interview before surgery. The prospect of surgery itself does not guarantee satisfaction of the desire for repair and work on conflict is seen to be a necessary step both for the pre-adolescent and for the parents
