<br/><br/> RésuméParmi les différentes « variétés de l’idiotie » décrites historiquement dans les traités de psychopathologie, l’auteur réalise une analyse de deux cas de figure observés jusqu’au xixe siècle : l’albinisme et la surdi-mutité. Reprenant les recherches de l’époque, il montre comment ces personnes présentaient des malformations ou des handicaps physiques qui étaient directement associés à des troubles psychiques manifestes. Au-delà d’une étude historique des notions théoriques développées à ce sujet, cet article apporte des lumières sur la constitution des pathologies psychiques, dans une articulation aux théorisations psychanalytiques contemporaines.  Among the different « varieties of idiocy » described historically in psychopathological treatises, the author conducts an analysis of two instances observed up until the 19th century : albinism and deaf-muteness. Taking up the research work of those times, he shows how these people showed physical malformations or handicaps that were directly associated with manifest psychic disturbances. Beyond a historical study into the theoretical notions developed on the subject, this article sheds light on the constitution of psychic pathologies, articulating this with contemporary psychoanalytical theorisations.
