<br/><br/> La présente étude se propose d’explorer les aspects psychologiques de treize personnes atteintes d’« obésité morbide » accueillies en évaluation psychodiagnostique à l’hôpital de l’université de l’État de Rio de Janeiro. Pour illustrer le propos, nous avons choisi quatre parmi ces treize cas. Le matériel recueilli durant les entretiens a été enregistré par écrit, en post-séance, et analysé ensuite à partir du référentiel psychanalytique. L’obésité morbide y apparaît comme une pathologie des états limites qui concerne l’omega somatique, provoquant des troubles dans la contenance psychique et dans les processus de transformation. La dimension narcissique de cette pathologie, les atteintes dans les processus de symbolisation primaire affectent les liens intersubjectifs et les expériences ne sont pas reconnues dans leur signification émotionnelle. Dans cette maladie mortifère, le corps est utilisé pour exprimer le dangereux univers psychique dans lequel se trouve le sujet.  MORBID OBESITY AND THE OMEGA FUNCTION This study aims to explore the psychological aspects of the morbidly obese. It is based on a total of thirteen cases that received psychodiagnostic evaluation at the hospital of Rio de Janeiro State University. To illustrate the thrust of the argument, four cases were chosen from among the original thirteen, to be analyzed in further detail. The collected material was recorded in writing following interview sessions and later analyzed with respect to a psychoanalytical reference. It was concluded that morbid obesity is a limit state pathology which concerns the somatic omega, causing disturbances in the psychic contention and transformation processes. This pathology’s narcissistic dimension and impairments in the primary symbolization processes affect inter-subjective bonds, in such a way that experiences are not recognized in their emotional significance. In this serious and lethal illness, the body is used to express the dangerous psychological universe in which the subjects find themselves.
