N2  - RésuméLe domicile a un statut paradoxal, à la fois sanctuaire de l’intime et catégorie de l’action sociale. Les politiques du domicile, la professionnalisation du prendre soin, la marchandisation du travail social, la marchandisation de l’intimité, tous ces phénomènes ont pour effet de remettre en question les limites entre sphère intime, espace privé et domaines publics. Ce fait oblige les professionnels à s’interroger sur le sens de leur pratique, respect de l’intimité de la personne ou application d’orientations politiques. Leur propre intimité se trouve interpellée, ce qui pourrait être la source du malaise qu’ils expriment; The home has a paradoxical status, both as sanctuary for what is private and category of social action. Home care oriented policies, professionalisation in caring, the commodification of social work, commodification of privacy – all these phenomena have the effect of bringing into question the limits between the private sphere, private space and public domains. This fact forces professionals to scrutinise the meaning of their practice in light of the countervailing demands of the person’s privacy and application of policy guidelines. Their own privacy is brought into question, and this may be the source of the unease they express
