The quest for thrills which can go as far as fainting is a constant activity among adolescents and can take playful (sliding, double-dutch) or painful (alcohol, drugs, etc) forms. It can also take the form of asphyxia games where fainting is deliberately sought for. This paper provides an anthropological analysis of this paradoxical quest.
