<br/><br/> Medical, psychological, and social difficulties encountered by certain families sometimes warrant that newborn babies be looked after in the care system before they leave the maternity unit with their parents. Our psychological care unit for parents and infants (UPP) operates within the maternity unit of the Saint-Denis hospital and provides specialized assessments and care. Two clinical cases detail the specific challenges encountered. The elaboration of a living narrative is a tool for health care workers, parents, and babies to help prevent psychological trauma.
