Our contribution to the theme of psychoanalysis and art intends to argue a double debt of psychoanalysis to the dramatic arts, a debt that encompasses langage (language in use) and langue (language as a system). Firstly, the scenic metaphor, which to our mind means much more than a simple stylistic device or a convenient illustration; secondly, the profound and intimate presence of Shakespearian poetics into Freud’s language, which we have inherited.
