A Demanding Generosity: For Roland Gori

<br/><br/> A university professor since 1979, Roland Gori attained emeritus status in 2009. This occasion marked an opportunity to offer a tribute to the man and his work. Roland Gori is defined by a demanding generosity, and this oxymoron emerges throughout this text. Generosity, passionate impetus, the desire to give and to transmit come together in the rigor of his choices both at university and in life, in the form of epistemological strictness and demanding friendship. In the course of a singular career, our meeting in 1990 led us to work together on the role of psychoanalysis in medicine; then, the political climate led him to consider valued and devalued professions. This resulted in the Appel des appels manifesto in December 2008, of which he was the initiator with Stefan Chedri.
