The Paradox of an “Opaque” Transparence - 2015.

21

This paper is concerned with questioning the paradoxical formations within certain psychological organizations. If they often reveal the alienation created by power relations, they also show the inventiveness of the psyche in trying to escape it. Such is the case of the “opaque transparence” that is sometimes discovered. Taking shape in words, behaviors, and a silencing of affects, this opaque transparence, which is given to feeling like an absence of thickness and absence of limits, reveals itself to be both an identification with the control carried by the look of the Other and a way of escaping it, of creating oneself a limit that remains invisible.
