Treatment at Home: Putting the Fixtures and Fittings to Work
- 2015.
53
Home care establishes a new paradigm for subjects in a situation of psychic vulnerability, in which the practitioner “relocates” their practice by taking into consideration the concrete elements of the décor and the in vivo atmosphere, as new tools of understanding, enabling the reading of breakdowns written on the walls. For the family décor bears traces of the traumatic family history, and comes to immobilize the death drive. This work in the home demands that a privileged place be granted to the sensorial and to primitive communication. It allows the clinician to put to work the fixed elements and post-traumatic solutions that these subjects have put in place in order to survive.
