The Fraternal: An Organizer of the Symbolization Process in Therapeutic Groups

<br/><br/> Although the fraternal imago has long been relegated to the paternal imago, more recent studies to which this paper refers tend to show not only that the fraternal has its own specificities, but also that the figure of the brother or sister prefigures that of the father. We describe the key moments in a group process that led from "frèrocité" (a neologism based on "frère [brother]"and "férocité[ferocity]") to a calm fraternal bond. The analysis of the therapeutic group presented here makes it possible to identify a processual sequence whereby the fraternal appears as an important organizational factor in processes of symbolization.
