<br/><br/> This article looks at the way in which Lydie Salvayre updates the maxims of Baltasar Gracián in two of her books: La Conférence de Cintegabelle (1999) and Irréfutable essai de successologie (2023). Two main principles are evoked: the embodiment by characters and the updating in the modern era of both political issues and forms (the genre of the maxim).
