The information professions, which profiles are sought-after? The case of documentalists

The profession of documentalist is part of the vast field of information professions. At the time of increasingly automated processing of information and documents, it is the subject of questions, often internal to the profession, as to its positioning and its prerogatives. In the job market, however, the profiles sought seem relatively stable: the documentalist remains an expert in document management. But it is notable that a specialization (law, health, science. . .) is almost always required and that competition is exercised with data profiles, requiring expertise in computer science. These elements must critically examine training courses, in particular in information science and communication.
