This article deciphers the domination effects of the support measures implemented by social workers among clients. It shows first that the injunction of autonomy that is imposed both on individuals and on the professionals who work with them is part of a “normative regime” established as dogma. Second, it highlights that individuals are assigned administrative identities or analyses of their situation that constitute “regimes of truth” prescribed to them by professionals.
