Running away, a Signifier of Issues Involving Family Relationships

Running away is quite a common situation with teenagers. Given the risks facing runaways and the worries of the families, police and social service schemes have been put in place. However few clinical studies have focussed on this problem. Running away has several meanings, but inevitably questions family relationships, the problematics of the teenager and the grief experienced over earlier emotional investment. The clinical study analyses 23 cases of runaways, leading to the recognition of two lines of pressure particularly played upon.
