Prematurity, early separations and the process of maternality

<br/><br/> The premature birth of a child is at the origin of early and repeated separations between a mother and her baby. These separations, a source of violent intrusion in the mental life of mothers, can hinder the process of parenting-filiation and the emergence of a feeling of maternal competence. The caring parenting deployed in neonatology, in particular the affective tuning between a caregiver and a mother as well as the bridging function, contributes to revitalize the process of maternality and to connect the mother and her baby.
