Being welcomed by the psychomotrician: non-verbal communication and tonic-emotional dialogue
- 2024.
27
Being welcoming is the basis of any therapeutic relationship. It involves language in particular, how the person is addressed, but also the body. Psychomotricians are trained to observe and read body language and non-verbal communication. The body, moreover, is one of the first vectors of communication for newborn babies. The first exchanges will take place through the body and tonic-emotional dialogue. This reciprocal dialogue between the psychomotrician and the patient requires preparation on the part of the professional. They must make themselves available and be aware of their limits so that they are always able to welcome patients correctly.
