N1 - 2 N2 - The article presents the results of recent research dealing with the social effects of the demolitions of buildings in social housing districts. If “urban renewal” improves the districts concerned, and thus aims at attracting or maintaining the middle classes, on the other hand, the conditions of rehousing which arises from the demolitions are objective constraints which weigh strongly upon the social-residential futures of lower class families.
