This paper analyses the importance of the town of Oujda (Morocco) in trans-mediterranean trading relations. Grounded in empirical research, it reports on the circulation of goods between Morocco and Algeria, shows the social organization of the commercial worlds and throws light on the intricate networks of the informal économy. The case of Oujda illustrates the major importance of the towns south of the Mediterranean in the process of the globalization of exchanges.
