<br/><br/> A cross-reading of the debates of the “Linguistic commission for the unification of French psychoanalytic vocabulary” (1928-1929) under the direction of Edouard Pichon, and the various translations of the formula “ Wo Es war, soll Ich warden” gives light on Freud’s reception in France, between a Cartesian philosophical tradition, anti-German linguistic stakes, and their on-going consequences today on our conception of the Subject in psychoanalysis.
