N2  - In organizing arranged marriages in Beirut’s Sunni community, the spouses are subjected to multiple negotiations between two families who agree on the terms of an exchange by signing a wedding contract. Starting with the extravagant aspects of the wedding ceremony itself, we explore two intertwined dimensions: the objects that play a role in the arrangement, and the place of the spouses in these transactions. The framing and staging ultimately refer to the community in question, while the objects and individuals involved are part of a genealogy that transforms them into bearers or representatives of a common heritage
