Despite the renewal of studies of women intellectuals and intellectual couples, which have given rise to the exploration of diverse archives, research frequently comes up against the silence of the sources concerning them. Not so much with regard to their education and training, but in terms of understanding what happens next, the life choices, the thwarted destinies, the obstacles, the difficulties experienced in the face of the power of academic and social conventions, and the different forms of rupture, which lead to an ambition, an ideal, whether scientific or political, sometimes being forgotten and definitively lost. The three texts presented in the “Archives and Documents” section (Jeanne Baudry by M. Béra, Marie-Anne Carroi by Xavier Riondet, Felicia Adetowun Ogunsheye by Olatunde Taiwo) aim, through unpublished archival and photographic documentation, to find these forgotten traces by carrying out archaeological work to try to better understand the forms of discontinuity in the lives of pioneering and politically engaged women intellectuals in the twentieth century.
