<br/><br/> An analysis always begins with a demand that conveys an unconscious desire. This was the impetus for Lacan’s invention of the desire of the analyst and the “subject supposed to know.” In his last seminars at the end of his teaching, due to the advances he made, the subject supposed to know was replaced by a “supposed to know to read otherwise” the writing of the unconscious, which is closer to the real. The progress of a cure thus becomes that of knowledge about this real, which entangles the subject.
