N2  - The symptom appears as a fixed and ineradicable product of the unconscious. The politician would have no other solution than the management ( gestion)—as effective as possible—of symptoms. The symptom is, by contrast, a structure of hidden movement, which can be revitalized by opening it up to the invention of the unconscious: this is the sinthome. By way of its doing and its gesture, the sinthome can and must call into question the political in order to push it beyond the simple management of symptoms
