Sociological Writing, Satire, and Literature - 2009.

The often neglected issue of sociological writing can be studied thanks to a form of research in which writing played a central role from beginning to end: participatory observation in a literary writing workshop, writing a paper and preparing a manuscript for publication. This case illustrates the importance of the satirical dimension in the early stages of sociological writing. This temptation, due in part to renewed interest in literary aptitudes, can be avoided by anticipating a rarely implemented exercise: indigenous reading prior to publication.
